Elisabeth Stride — Remembering the Victims of the Whitechapel Killer
Elizabeth Stride is the third canonical victim of Jack the Ripper. This is about her life.
Elisabeth Stride is one of the most debated of the Ripper’s canonical five victims and is the most likely to not truly be killed by the Ripper.
Still, she was murdered brutally on the night of September 30th, 1888. The same night Catherine Eddowes would be murdered. It is possible they aren’t connected, but not very likely.
The theory is that Catherine Eddowes was murdered because the Ripper was interrupted before he could mutilate Stride like he had the other victims. At this point, the mutilation was becoming more and more brutal.
In any case, Elisabeth’s life does deserve to be remembered. Not as a victim, but as a person.
Sorry about the delay on this third part. These articles are emotionally draining to write, so I took a break for a few days and got readdicted to Stardew Valley (marrying Leah this save but Penny is bae.). Nevertheless, I feel they are important and I do enjoy bringing life to these too often forgotten women.
If you haven’t read the first few articles of the series, you can start here with Mary Ann Nichols.
