Mary Jane Kelly — Remembering the Victims of the Whitechapel Killer
Mary Jane Kelly is the final known victim of Jack the Ripper. This is about her life.
Mary Jane Kelly’s murder is by far the most researched out of all the Jack the Ripper victims. And this is probably due to two things. The first is that her killing was the most brutal and the second is we know so little about who she actually was.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t reliably find any photos of Mary when she was alive. I found a forum discussing an alleged photo of her, but as far as I could tell, there are no known photos of her.
She was a kind soul, and it is truly sad there aren’t any pictures of her alive to remember her by.
Additionally, she was the only one photographed at the crime scene. I’m not going to include those photos in the article, but I will include a link. I’ll get to why this photo is important at the end of this article.
Edit: Soon after writing this, I found a colorized version of the crime scene photo. It is extremely disturbing, but it really gets across how horrendous these murders were like none of the black and white photos did. And I feel seeing it really hammers in the reality in this case which is often forgotten. Proceed with extreme caution.
