Cases like Ocey Snead’s murder are the ones that break my heart the most, but they’re the stories I feel need to be told.

Writing about murder has its pitfalls. One is the need to take a break for a few days every once in a while. I write for the victims and get emotionally invested. So, I take care of myself so I can keep writing for the victims just as well as always.

If I ever stop writing for a week or two, fear not. I will come back. I’m just taking care of myself. (Although switching my ADHD meds over the last couple weeks certainly hasn’t helped.)

This particular murder’s research was why I took a break, so it’s a heavy one.

This is also another case of “just when I think I’m done researching, I find another plot twist.” So it took longer to put together. And when I saw this was turning into a 20-minute article, I knew I needed to create another two-parter.
