This is something I noticed myself doing and took a big step back after. I especially realized how irritating it is after I found out I was autistic and realizing many people are vocally inclusive…but then exclude autistic people based on things as little as not making eye contact.
Totally not the same thing. But I became more conscious of how I could be performatively anti-racist. Actually, shedding the performance was part of me shedding all of the masking I was doing my entire life.
I’ve noticed is being actively anti-racist is much easier than pointing every little thing out. If you don’t break issues down, there’s no learning.
You do a great job of pointing out how ridiculous performative wokeness is and you have a brilliant voice that made me laugh more than a few times.
I’d love to hear your thoughts on my article if you ever have the chance!
Side note: I’m now very curious about the racist history of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
